There was romance, high drama, and memorable moments in spades at this year's Golden Globes. The event certainly had all the ingredients to ensure movie fans remain content till next month's Oscars.

After the excitement of the main ceremony there was more to come when, in a scene which could have easily featured in one of her husband Tom Cruise's action movies, Katie Holmes dashed to the airport in a helicopter to catch a flight for California to attend a post-awards celebration. The Mad Money actress had made a 3,000-mile dash from New York to LA to be with her man after performing in her Broadway play All My Sons.

Further adding to the poignancy of Heath Ledger's posthumous best supporting actor win - for his portrayal of the Joker in The Dark Knight - was the news, shared by the late actor's mother Sandy Bell, that the trophy will one day go to Matilda, his three-year-old daughter with Michelle Williams.

"Down the track she will have all these things. It will belong to her because she is part of him," Heath's mum told US publication People.

And not even missing out on the best actor and actress gongs - which went to Kate Winslet and Mickey Rourke respectively - could dampen the evening for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The parents of six's relationship seems to get richer all the time, with the pair gazing into each other's eyes and sharing lingering kisses at their table.
