Fresh from her Golden Globes double triumph in LA Kate Winslet was back in her homeland this week for the premiere of the movie which delivered her best actress gong. And as she took to the red carpet in Leicester Square at a screening of Revolutionary Road, questions inevitably turned to last week's tearful acceptance speech.
"I was genuinely stunned," says the Reading-born star, who in the past had received five Globe nods but never got to take one home. "I have not won big awards in the past. I spoke from the heart. The Hollywood foreign press had given me one award for The Reader and you don't get two."
For her home turf pit-stop the 33-year-old mum-of-two had chosen a chic number by Narcisco Rodriguez, the US stylist favoured by Michelle Obama. She's now hotly tipped to pick up more trophies at the BAFTAs ceremony, after being nominated twice in the leading actress category.
Joining her at the Revolutionary Road screening was Kate's co-star and long time pal Leonardo DiCaprio. Famous Brits also turning out to catch an early glimpse of the romantic drama included singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, accompanied by her musician husband Richard Jones, and former Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq.
