He's announced his retirement from the film world, but Joaquin Phoenix has not disappeared from the Hollywood scene just yet. The actor-turned hip hop musician joined Gwyneth Paltrow at a special screening of Two Lovers - the project which he says will be the last film of his career.

While his mum-of-two co-star Gwyneth turned heads in an edgy, high-waisted leather shorts and gold top combo Joachim was adhering to the boho look he's adopted since deciding to leave acting behind. His clean-shaven Hollywood icon look has been replaced with long hair and a full beard.

Inevitably, conversation at the bash turned to Joachim's new career move. "It's a personal thing. It's not a judgement on other people or on the industry," explained the double Oscar nominee. "There is nothing left for me to discover. I know that maybe sounds arrogant... but I achieved my idea of success."

He said there would be no change in his decision, which was something he "had thought about a lot". The 34-year-old added: "When music replaced acting for me, there was no turning back."

Other stars at the screening of the drama, which tells the tale of a bachelor torn between the family friend his parents want him to marry and his beautiful new neighbour, included Gwyneth's actress mum Blythe Danner and model Helena Christensen.
