Their new flick might be called The Soloist, but Robert Downey Jr and Jamie Foxx were very much a double act at the film's LA premiere this week. The co-stars hammed it up for the cameras on the red carpet with an impromptu tango.
In the film – which is based on a true story - the pair play unlikely pals who develop a close friendship. Double Oscar-nominee Robert portrays Los Angeles Times columnist Steve Lopez, who finds himself drawn into the life of mentally ill homeless musician Nathaniel Ayers - Jamie's character - when he begins to write about him.
Robert says making the film was a moving experience. "What I took away from it more than anything else was, my God - sometimes you make a movie and sometimes the movie makes you, and this was one of those type of things."
Stars turning up for a first look at the drama – which was directed by Atonement filmmaker Joe Wright – included Hollywood beauty Halle Berry, looking fun and funky in a striped jersey dress, and Dublin-born hunk Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
