Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick's household is about to get a lot busier. On Tuesday the Hollywood couple announced they are expecting twin girls through a surrogate mother.

In a statement released by their publicists, Sarah, 44, and Matthew revealed they were "happily anticipating the birth of twin daughters later this summer with the generous help of a surrogate", adding "the entire family is overjoyed".

The New York-based pair, who will celebrate their twelfth wedding anniversary on May 19, are already parents to a six-year-old son, James Wilkie. Despite past reports suggesting difficulties in the marriage the Sex And The City actress and her 47-year-old spouse looked happy together as they stepped out on Monday evening for the premiere of Matthew's new film, Wonderful World.

"Doesn't she look beautiful," the Producers actor enthused about his style icon wife, who had chosen a Narciso Rodriguez dress for the screening of the comedy which tells the story of a misanthropic divorcee who finds love again.
