Emily Blunt's husband-to-be, actor John Krasinski, has been given the all important seal of approval from her father.
Following confirmation of the couple's engagement through The Office star's representative last week, top criminal judge QC Oliver Blunt has spoken out in praise of his future son-in-law, adding he is "very happy" for his daughter.
"He is a lovely guy, very bright and a great companion to Emily," he said. "We have met him of course – he was here to support Emily at the premiere of Young Victoria."
While he said it was "too early" to say whether the wedding would take place in the UK or 29-year-old John's native US, reports say the couple have told friends and family they want a short engagement.
"They have to schedule (the wedding) pretty tightly around his work on The Office," a source told In Touch magazine. "He only gets two breaks a year from shooting – at Christmas and in late March."
" Emily's going full speed into wedding planning mode. She's interested in starting a family, so there's really not a lot of time to waste sitting around."
One guest likely to be at the nuptials is 26-year-old Emily's Devil Wears Prada co-star Anne Hathaway who first set the couple up in November last year. "She has been a huge cheerleader of John and Emily's relationship," the source confirmed.
Prior to meeting her Boston-born fiancé - who was coincidentally last week spotted at Niagara Falls filming his wedding to his on-screen love Pam, played by Jenna Fischer - Emily was in a three-year relationship with Canadian singer Michael Buble. That romance ended last year.
