Michelle Williams put a brave face on her split from Jason Segel as she attended the premiere of Oz the Great and Powerful on Wednesday. Next to her co-stars Mila Kunis and James Franco, the actress looked relaxed and happy as she smiled her way through their photocall.
Michelle stayed true to her vintage sense of style with a sheer, patterned chiffon gown by Jason Wu – one of her favourite designers. She completed the look with a dusting of natural makeup. Promoting the fantasy adventure film, in which she stars as Glinda the Good Witch, is a welcome distraction from Michelle's split from How I Met Your Mother star Jason. This week, reports emerged that the couple had quietly broken up in early February. Distance was blamed for the split; Michelle lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her seven-year-old daughter Matilda, while Jason primarily is based in Los Angeles where he films his hit show.
Jason was Michelle's most serious boyfriend since the death of Heath Ledger in 2008. And he clearly developed a strong bond with the late actor's daughter; the 33-year-old was often pictured playing with Matilda and escorting both his girls around town. Michelle has said that Jason helped turn her life around following Heath's tragic death. Speaking to InStyle magazine she said: "The other day I was walking around all bundled up and the sun was shining and I realised I was smiling in a way I hadn't in a long time." "The roses in my cheeks weren't from makeup for once. It was a perfect moment."
