Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas' marriage has been under scrutiny in recent weeks following reports that they are going through a period of trial separation. But the couple are out to show they are still very much together. Following on from their united appearance at the Academy Awards, where Michael was pictured proudly escorting his wife down the red carpet, the couple enjoyed a sporty date together in New York on Saturday.
They headed out hand-in-hand to see Michael's favourite basketball team, the Miami Heat, take on the New York Nicks at the Madison Square Garden arena. The golden couple brought good luck with them, and the Wall Street star got to see his team coming out on top in the fiercely fought game.It was the National Enquirer who recently claimed the famous pair are in the middle of a "hush hush trial separation", reporting that Michael's battle with throat cancer and Catherine's bipolar diagnosis had put a strain on their relationship. The magazine also claimed that Michael had moved out of the home he shares with the actress, 43, and their two children, Dylan, 12 and nine-year-old Carys.
Spokespersons for both Catherine and MIchael strenuously denied the story, confirming is was "absolutely not true".And just recently, Michael, 68, spoke adoringly about his Welsh wife of 12 years. "Catherine and I are doing well. She is more beautiful than ever inside and out," he told People. "I support her with everything and she is simply the best".
