Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has announced he and his fiancée, Lauren Shippey, are expecting their second baby. Jack, 25, announced the news on Twitter on Thursday, prompting a host of congratulations from his fans.
"Me and @LaurenShippey are pleased to announce we are expecting a baby," said Jack. "We are both very happy." By coincidence, Jack's character in the ITV soap is also preparing to become a dad. David Platt, as Jack is known on the small screen, recently discovered his pregnant wife Kylie does not know if he or his half-brother Nick is the baby's father.
"Thanks for all your kind tweets for me and @LaurenShippey," tweeted Jack later in the day. "I like the "Is it Nicks?" Comments haha x" he added in reference to the soap's storyline.
"@JackPShepherd88 @LaurenShippey yay it's out!" Tweeted Jack's pregnant co-star, Lucy Jo Hudson. "So happy for you both! Can't wait to go baby shopping with you Lauren xxx."
Jack and Lauren already have a daughter Nyla, four, together. The childhood sweethearts have been a couple since they were 14 years old, and live in Manchester together. Jack and Lauren's happy baby news comes just as Coronation Street swept the board at last week's Soap Awards, taking eight awards at the ceremony, while rival EastEnders walked away with just one.
