Will Endeavour's army march to victory, or will Evolve's school day pass with distinction? It's week six of The Apprentice and the remaining hopefuls are tasked with arranging a corporate away day. Woken by a 6am phone call, the 11 candidates are met at London's Guildhall by Lord Sugar where they receive their instructions. "I've got you two clients, who are going to give you a budget, and from that budget you are going to provide entertainment or an event. I will be judging the winner on the profit you make, but also on the customer satisfaction," he tells them.
The business mogul then appoints Leah Totton project manager of Endeavour, and Francesca MacDuff-Varley leader of Evolve.
The two teams are given two days and a budget of £5,000 to create and run an away day that meets the brief of a major corporate client.
Endeavour struggle to agree on a theme during their brainstorming session, with Neil Clough backing 'Back to School'. PM Leah, 24, disagrees, preferring instead the idea of a 'Historic Medieval' away day.
Despite the team voting for the school theme, Leah overrules her teammates and decides to go ahead with her historical idea. "Leah has been in the boardroom complaining that she hasn't followed her gut instinct," aide Karren Brady observes. "Well, she's done that today. She's gone with the theme of history, much against the majority of her team. "Later in the day, doctor Leah is forced to reconsider her decision when questioning whether her medieval choice meets the client's brief of 'improving listening and communication skills'.With that in mind, she tells her sub-team, "We have tried to come up with a theme that we can run throughout the day with medieval. We drew a blank, so we've moved to 'Army'."
Meanwhile, team Evolve, led by dance studio director Francesca, 32, are united on their 'Back to School' idea. Things are less harmonious when it comes to choosing team building exercises for the day.Francesca delegates research into a chocolate-making course to Luisa Zissman and Jason Leech. As a cupcake shop owner, Luisa, 25, suggests she runs a cupcake making workshop instead, saying, "Why would we pay for chocolate making when I can do something I do in my everyday life?"Despite Francesca's initial reservations — "I don't want to do everything DIY and end up with a cheap product" — the cupcake course is added to the day's activities, alongside a wine tasting course, led by Jason and Rebecca Slater. Both teams decide that their away days should conclude with a motivational speaker. While team Evolve decide to hire a professional, Neil, 32, puts himself forward to rally the troops at Endeavour's event.Confident that his abilities can make the difference, he adds, "I'm convinced that even though we've got lower end activities, people like myself and Myles can actually make this value for money." But as the weather takes a turn for the worse during Endeavour’s outdoor activities, will Neil's rousing speech be enough to lift the client's spirits?Tune in to The Apprentice at 9pm on BBC One to find out who's next to be fired.
