Exciting first look at Homeland season 3

July 30, 2013

The makers of hit US TV show Homeland have released a gripping teaser trailer. The 30 second clip gives viewers a sneak peek at the highly anticipated third series of the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning drama, set to return to UK screens this September.

The trailer, titled 'Signals', plays a radio wave pick-up and has no visuals. Among interference, the panicked voice of main man Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) can be heard to ask, "Does Carey know I’m here?" and later, "I just need to get my strength back."

With a voice reciting Arabic verse – "I am a Muslim lost in this world. Help me come clean again" - and Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) admitting, “We don’t know where he is,” the cryptic recording of just a few soundbites is sure to leave Homeland viewers on the edge of their seats.

Season 2 finished on an incredible cliffhanger as a terror attack wiped out the U.S intelligence corps. Season 3 looks set to open in its aftermath, with a global manhunt looking for “terrorist” Brody.

The former marine was forced to leave Carrie and go on the run after he is accused of the horrific attack. "Carrie and Saul begin to pick up the pieces of their shattered professional and personal lives", and are soon "swept up in the political and media firestorm surrounding...the search for Brody's whereabouts," producers at Showtime revealed.

Executive Alex Gansa, has suggested that Brody will appear less in the new season given his new moniker as “the world’s most wanted terrorist.”

Instead, viewers may look forward to a number of new cast members, including Law & Order’s Joanna Merlin as Jessica Brody's mother and How I Met Your Mother’s Nazanin Boniadi as analyst Fara, among others.

Season 3 of Homeland is the latest installment in the already highly successful franchise, which last year bagged the top accolades of Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actress and Actor in a Drama Series at the Emmy’s.

The hit show will return to Channel 4 in September.
