Coronation Street has welcomed one of Britain's biggest pop stars, Cheryl Cole, to its cobbled streets for a one-off charity episode.The 30-year-old singer has made a special appearance on the soap, pulling pints alongside Michelle Keegan — who plays Tina McIntyre.
In a sketch specially written to raise money for Text Santa, Cheryl arrives in Weatherfield to visit her childhood friend Tina at the Rovers Return. She aims to take her up to Newcastle to celebrate Christmas — but things don't go according to plan. "It's always been part of my life, we'd all watch it as kids every night," Cheryl said of her guest appearance. "It's surreal to be part of something I've watched my whole life. "The former Girls Aloud star will appear alongside Michelle, Simon Gregson (Steve), Kym Marsh (Michelle) and Andy Whyment (Kirk) in the episode, which will be screened on ITV on Friday 20 December.
ITV's Text Santa raises money and awareness for six UK-based charities offering life-changing services to people in communities.
This year's chosen charities are Age UK, Barnado's, BeatBullying, British Heart Foundation, CLIC Sargent and Help the Hospices.
