There's trouble in store for Emmerdale pub chef Marlon Dingle — his ex-wife Donna is set to return to the village.ITV bosses have confirmed that Verity Rushworth is reprising her role and will start filming for the soap next month.
Donna's return not only threatens the happiness between her ex-husband Marlon (Mark Charnock) and his new fiancée Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy), but there appears to be more to her return than first meets the eye. Verity, who will be on screen from March, said she was "thrilled to be re-joining the wonderful Emmerdale team".
She added, "The emotional journey my character is set to experience will be wonderfully challenging to play, and of course working with some of my oldest friends is going to be a real treat!"Kate Oates, Emmerdale Series Producer, said of Donna's return, "I'm delighted to welcome Verity back to the show. "Donna left under a real cloud with Marlon — so her return should ruffle some serious feathers in the village.
"I'm really excited to see the impact she has on the family and friends she left behind. "Since leaving Emmerdale at the beginning of 2009, Verity has made her West End debut at Penny Pingleton in Hairspray and has added a host of stage credits to her name.
