What a year it has been in Soapworld. The past 12 months have provided an array of rich and sometimes challenging storylines that have had the nation glued to its TVs.

Coronation Street received praise and numerous plaudits for its portrayal of Tyrone Dobbs' domestic abuse at the hands of his partner Kirsty Soames. And millions of us tuned in to see the heartbreaking moment when Hayley Cropper took her own life, with devoted husband Roy by her side.

EastEnders has seen some big changes, from Janine Butcher's departure to the return of Stacey Branning and the arrival of Danny Dyer's landlord Mick Carter. There has been a bride left at the altar, a surprise pregnancy announcement and most recently, an affair fall out following Jake's romance with Lauren.

Hollyoaks struck a chord with Esther's bullying storyline, and the dramatic exit of Brendan Brady. And then there was the Texas Wedding whodunit…Over on Emmerdale, viewers were gripped by the Woolpack Siege, which saw Cameron hold various villagers at gunpoint before being electrocuted.But which show do you think deserves to walk away with the coveted soap award at Wednesday's NTA's?
