Kate Mara has said she is "pleased that most people are in such shock" over the twist which kicks off season two of House of Cards. "I'm talking about it but I'm not really talking about it, because it's hard to know if you're spoiling it for other people," she said during an interview with TV Line.
The 30-year-old actress was referring to the fact her character Zoe Barnes is murdered by conniving politician Frank Underwood at the start of the new season.Despite Zoe's demise, Kate says she still has a soft spot for Frank, who is played by Kevin Spacey. She admits: "I find myself rooting for Frank, as evil as he is."
Though she thinks it's unlikely to happen, Kate said she would be up for returning to the series to film a flashback scene. "I'd totally be open to it, why not? A little ghost moment? Sure," she said.Kate is the sister of The Girl with the Dragoon Tattoo actress Rooney Mara. She has also appeared in the first series of American Horror Story and her film credits include 127 Hours and Brokeback Mountain.
She has been cast as the invisible woman in The Fantastic Four. House of Cards season two was released on Netflix in its entirety on Valentine's Day.
