Ellen DeGeneres may not have been up for an Oscar this year but the funnywoman aimed to win a prize of her own at the 86th Academy Awards.
The 2014 host gave herself the hefty task of achieving the most retweeted selfie, tallying up to 774,000 people in the first 30 minutes and still counting.
The 56-year-old star asked famous members of the audience to get in front of her Samsung mobile phone so she could post the snap on her The Ellen Show Twitter page for her approximately 25.8m followers to see.“If only Bradley’s arm was longer. Best photo ever. #oscars” she posted referring to actor Cooper who posed at the front centre and took the image.
Ellen was feeling tech-savvy on Sunday Ellen previously asked Meryl Streep to be the all-important finger behind the star-studded shot, but the legendary actress, who is mentioned in Oscars speeches more than God, couldn’t reach. The ceremony’s host had changed into a white suit for the final segment of the show and her ivory ensemble matched Meryl’s in the crammed frame.
Also in the photo was Jared Leto, Channing Tatum, Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey, plus Lupita Nyong’o and her brother.
Stars also helped Ellen hand out pizza to hungry guests, with Brad on duty to hand out disposable plates and Kevin keeping the box moving around so guests such as Streep, Lawrence and Leto could chow down on a slice.
Ellen didn’t fail to impress attendees with her original hosting style, at one point donning a pink Glinda the Good Witch costume from Wizard of Oz to make the audience both cringe and giggle - earlier even taking to the guitar to entertain the crowd.
Often walking in the aisles of the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Ellen was very tactile with the nominees and could be spotted patting people on the back and checking they were comfortable.
