Angelina's first on-screen role in three years, Maleficent also stars Elle Fanning, Peter Capaldi and up and coming Australian actor Brendon Thwaites.

The film also stars Angelina and Brad Pitt’s daughter, 5-year-old Vivienne Jolie-Pitt as the young Aurora, before Elle picks up the role in Aurora’s teenage years.

Brad and 38-year-old Angelina have announced that they would not like their children to be actors, telling Entertainment Weekly, "We think it's fun for our kids to have cameos and join us on set, but not to be actors.

"The couple who are engaged to be married went on to add: "That's not the goal for Brad and me at all. I think we would both prefer that they didn't become actors.

"Filming for the Disney film took place throughout the UK in 2012, and Angelina admitted that children who visited the set often thought she was a real witch.

Angelina has always had an affinity for the evil villain in the 1959 film Sleeping Beauty. She revealed, "Since I was a little girl, Maleficent was always my favourite. I was terrified of her, but I was drawn to her. I wanted to know more about her, know what she was like and who she was.

"She went on to discuss the traits of Maleficent, which by the look of the released posters Angelina has crafted herself. "She had this elegance and grace, and yet she was so cruel. Just wonderfully and deliciously cruel."
