David Walliams dons drag to play Simon Cowell's nanny in Britain's Got Talent advert

March 24, 2014

Comedian David Williams is set to make audiences laugh yet again on Monday night when the TV advert for Britain’s Got Talent’s next season premieres. Fresh from emulating Jason Donovan for Sport Relief, the Little Britain star can be seen dressed in drag as he pretends to be a nanny for Simon Cowell’s new son Eric.

ITV’s marketing campaign for 2014’s BGT gives an insight into the judges’ lives as Simon, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams are all parents. In the clip David is nowhere to be seen and it seems that Simon might be struggling to juggle things as he is running late to work. Then inside his dressing room it becomes apparent that the music mogul is actually being pampered in a chair by gorgeous women.

David’s character soon disturbs all and the tiny tot – whose mother is Lauren Silverman - hurls a baby rattle at the star while Simon proudly smiles and says “that’s my boy”. David has already acted as his chauffeur and a crazed fan in past commercials for the programme which returns April 12.

Ant and Dec will front the show one week after their Saturday Night Takeaway ends. The format is likely to be six weeks of audition phases before a week of live performances to see the series out either at the end of May of beginning of June. The four parents really will be busy as they balance their work with family life. Alesha, who formerly was a judge on Strictly Come Dancing – welcomed her first child, a daughter, in October 2013.
