After nine seasons, 28 Emmys and hundreds of comedy moments, the final curtain came down on How I Met Your Mother. Understandably, the cast and crew of the hugely successful show were feeling emotional as Ted Mosby finally wrapped up the story of how he met Tracy McConnell, the mother of his two children.
Sharing the love on Twitter, Josh Radnor, who plays Ted, wrote: "Been so overwhelmed in the best way by all the HIMYM love. Beyond grateful to have been a part of a show that's meant so much to people. "He went on to pay tribute to the show's creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, who came up with idea for the show based on their friends and "the stupid stuff we did in New York".
Josh wrote: "For the last 9 years I worked for and with two of the kindest, smartest, hilarious-est guys, @CarterBays & @HimymCraig & I love them both. "Allyson Hanigan – who plays Lily – was clearly expecting to shed a few tears, judging by the picture she posted ahead of watching the finale with director Pam Fryman.
"This is what I brought to #PamFryman to watch #HIMYMFarewell," she captioned a picture of a bumper pack of tissues.
Full of gratitude was Neil Patrick Harris , aka Barney. "To all who helped create #HIMYM, well played. To all who enjoyed watching it, I respectfully request the highest of fives. #thanks.
"This was echoed by Cobie Smulders, aka news anchor Robin, who wrote: "Thank you to everyone who worked on HIMYM and to the fans who kept us on the air for the last 9 years!!! What a wonderful ride!"
