The release date for the Magic Mike sequel has been confirmed. The film, titled Magic Mike XXL, will hit screens on 4 July, 2015.
The original movie, starring Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer, was a surprise hit with critics and audiences, making more than $167 million at the worldwide box office in 2012. It was loosely based on Channing's own exploits as a stripper.
And the handsome Hollywood star recently confirmed he is working on the new script. In February, Channing posted an Instagram photo showing him holding a notebook while gazing at a bust of his Magic Mike co-star Matthew. "What better way to stay writing #MagicMike2 than with my old friend Dallas #runatribe," he captioned the picture, referring to Matthew's character.
Fans of the first film will be hoping to see the cast reunite for a second time on screen. Speaking recently to MTV, Channing said, "I think everyone's gonna be back. Obviously no-one's deals are done which is always kind of scary. "This one will be a road trip movie," he revealed. "Without giving a lot away, we don't wanna make it a really serious, slice-of-life movie. We want to have reality in it, but we don't want to make it some dark drama.
"There was some darkness in the last one that I think surprised people and shocked people."
