First look at Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey

June 18, 2014

Jamie Dornan stars as Christian Grey in this first look image from the highly anticipatedFifty Shades of Grey.

The feature adaptation of the bestselling novel by E L James, which originated asTwilight fanfiction, is set for release on Valentine's Day 2015, but today's still comes in celebration of the lead character Christian's birthday.

It is our first official look at the character, and the brooding businessman sits behind the wheel of what we're sure is an expensive sports car.Previous pictures have come during filming and from E L James's Instagram account, and in December the author of the erotic trilogy shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse from the set of the film at the weekend. "Action!" she captioned the snapshot, featuring a slate during the 1st roll, the 25th scene and the 1st take. Fifty Shades producer Dana Brunetti re-tweeted James' pic, adding, "And we're off."

Jamie and Dakota Johnson, who plays college senior Anastasia Steele, were spotted on the first day of shooting in Vancouver,  filming a scene in which 27-year-old millionaire asks Anastasia out after she stumbles through her initial interview with the intimidating entrepreneur. British director Sam Taylor-Wood is at the helm of the movie, which was pushed back to 2015 following the departure of Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnan, who dropped out of the lead role. Irish actor Jamie quickly filled the role of Christian Grey though - and he recently spoke out on how he has developed an unusual skill set thanks to his roles playing S&M-loving billionaire Christian Grey and serial killer Paul Spector in The Fall.

"There are a couple of classic knots I know now," the 31-year-old star said in a recent interview with The Guardian. "And I've put them to good use far too many times recently. In fact, I'd like to do a job where I don't have to tie women to beds."
