Vin Diesel may have been a part of the Fast and the Furious franchise since the beginning but he admits the last movie was his most difficult so far. The 47-year-old actor shared that since the death of co-star Paul Walker last year, his biggest career challenge came with recording Fast & Furious 7 without him. Vin – who portrays Dominic Toretto in the motion pictures – shared that it was tough coming to terms with his loss while in the public eye.

Vin Diesel spoke about the late Paul Walker at the Guardians of the Galaxy premiere

"It was, needless to say, the hardest movie I've ever done," he told Access Hollywood. "I remember when the tragedy happened, my mother said to me, 'It's not fair that you have to mourn in front of the world.'"What's even harder is to mourn and simultaneously that the person is next to you, so every time you turn to whoever's sitting in that chair you see not Paul." Paul’s brothers helped fill gaps in the film out next April and despite the late star being irreplaceable, he feels the cast did a great job in respecting his passing.

"It's very, very weird," he continued. "The good thing is, because we took all the time, the movie is a true testament to everyone coming together and wanting to honour both the saga and our brother, and there's something very beautiful about that. "I think Fast 7 wins Best Picture, whether we want to or not!"

Vin spoke of the tragedy at the premiere of new film Guardians of the Galaxy, where he voices the character Groot. He shared how putting his energy into this piece of work actually made him see light at the end of the tunnel during a tough time. "I'm really fortunate that I have both of these movies and there's something very, very healing about playing a character like Groot that celebrates life after a tragedy like the one that happened," he said.
