Emily Blunt, James Corden, and Anna Kendrick go Into The Woods in first trailer

August 1, 2014

Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, and James Corden realise they should have been careful what they wished for in this first trailer for Disney's hotly anticipated adaptation Into The Woods.

SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO.

Originally a Tony award-winning musical, Into the Woods weaves together several of the Grimm brothers' fairy tales into one story which explores the consequences of wishes made.

The original story begins with the Baker (James Corden) and the Baker's wife (Emily Blunt) and their interaction with the evil old witch (Meryl Streep) who has placed a curse of the couple, leaving them childless. Soon Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy) all become bound together with the couple, as they attempt to break the witch's spell.

The story is a heartfelt comedy that focuses on the legacies that are left for children, although this first trailer highlights the creepy nature of Meryl Streep's evil witch.

We also hear the oft-repeated lyric "I wish" throughout this trailer by various characters, although disappointingly, there's no singing involved in this first clip.

Meryl, James and Anna however have all proven their abilities in Mammia Mia!, the stage version of Les Miserables and Pitch Perfect respectively.
