Sylvester Stallone is used to being the star of the show - but he found himself sharing the limelight at the premiere of The Expendables 3 with his beautiful wife Jennifer Flavin and the couple's three daughters.

Sylvester was proud as punch as he stood in the midst of his family looking dapper in smart trousers, a crisp white shirt, and a bottle green velvet jacket.

The star's wife of 17-years was stunning in a monochrome dress,. She was accompanied by Sophia Rose, who will turn 18 later this month, Sistine Rose, 16, and 12-year-old Scarlet Rose. All looked like naturals on the red carpet as they posed for photographers.

Sylvester, 68, joked with the press about his daughters: "They're just here to see Kellan [co-star Kellan Lutz]. Can you blame them?"The star spoke of filming the third installment of the explosive ensemble series, explaining that as cameras rolled he had suffered a back injury which needed surgery.

"I grade the quality of a film by the intensity of the injuries. When I shot Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot, I never got hurt," said the star. "Through Rambo and The Expendables, I break my neck and my spine and I dislocate both shoulders.

"In this one here, I end up really taking a fall on my back and had some metal put in there, so if you hear any squeaking, it's not my shoes but my back. But I'm getting better." Sylvester, who plays Expendables leader Barney Ross, was joined by co-stars including Jason Statham, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas and Kellan Lutz for the film's world premiere. Harrison Ford and Mel Gibson also star in the film. The Expendables 3 opens in cinemas on 14 August.
