James Corden has come a long way from one-time stints on programmes such as Hollyoaks and Little Britain. The 35-year-old actor has reportedly landed himself a job as a host on American TV. He will be replacing Scottish presenter Craig Ferguson who is the face of the CBS network's The Late Late Show, meaning James could soon be a personality known widely across households in the United States.

According to The Wrap, the Gavin & Stacey favourite will be taking over from 52-year-old Craig at the end of this year. The host has held onto the role since 2005 and announced he was leaving in April. James is thought to have beaten fellow thespians Joel McHale, who hosts The Soup on E!, and Neil Patrick Harris, who fronted the 2013 Emmy Awards.James' jobs such as One Man, Two Guvnors have seen him noticed across the pond as the play won a Tony Award in 2012. His global CV also boasts star-studded movie Into The Woods - where he plays The Baker, due out this year - as well as Begin Again, which he appears in with Keira Knightley.

If the loveable Brit does snap up the job it would likely mean his wife Julia Carey and three-year-old son Max would have to move to the US. In May it was revealed they are expecting their second child together shortly after they attended the TV BAFTA Awards together.The couple, who met in 2009, were introduced by their mutual friend, Mamma Mia! actor Dominic Cooper. James proposed on Christmas Day in 2010, and pair tied the knot at Somerset's Babington House in September 2012.
