TV presenter Alison Hammond has said she is "absolutely overjoyed" to be taking part in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing. Alison announced the news on ITV's This Morning on Tuesday. "I am absolutely overjoyed to be joining the Strictly team. I am ready to immerse myself in glitter and hard work, with a dash of fun along the way!" she said.
Alison Hammond is the third confirmed star taking part in Strictly Come Dancing
The 39-year-old made her name as a contestant on the third series of Big Brother back in 2002. Before that she was a child actress, holiday rep and cinema usherette. She is now best known as This Morning's showbiz reporter and has interviewed the world's biggest stars including Hugh Jackman, Will Smith, George Clooney and Daniel Craig.
The Birmingham-born presenter has also appeared on a number of other high-profile TV shows over the course of her career, including All Star Family Fortunes, Celebrity Coach Trip and the 2010 series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
Alison's announcement follows confirmation that Judy Murray will also be taking part in the new series of Strictly. Andy Murray's mum surprised the show's fans when she revealed she would be swapping tennis for tango.
"I'm a huge Strictly Come Dancing fan but a total armchair dancer. It's going to be a big challenge for me and for whoever has to dance with me but I absolutely can't wait to get started!" she said.
