Steve Backshall to swap the jungle for the ballroom as he's confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2014

Steve Backshall is the latest celebrity to be confirmed for the Strictly Come Dancing 2014 line-up. The Bafta-winning naturalist is set to swap the jungle for the ballroom when he takes to the Strictly dancefloor, and he says the show will be his "wildest challenge by far".

"My day job filming wildlife in jungles and swamps is nothing like as scary as what is ahead," he said as he broke the exciting news on Monday morning on BBC Breakfast. "I think Strictly Come Dancing is going to be my wildest challenge by far!" he added. The TV presenter is best known for CBBC's popular flagship wildlife programme, Deadly 60, in which he tracks down 60 of the world's deadliest animals.

Steve also presents the spin-off series, Deadly Pole to Pole, in which he explores some of the most extreme environments our planet has to offer.Throughout his daring career, the 41-year-old has been diving with great white sharks, caught a king cobra, handled a red-back spider and been bitten by crocodiles.Steve joins The Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge, Ex-rugby player Thom Evans, TV presenter Alison Hammond, Blue singer Simon Webbe, Wimbledon champion Andy Murray's mum Judy, Mark Wright, Sunetra Sarker and Jake Wood in this year’s battle for the ballroom.
