Naomi Campbell to star in new TV show based on hip-hop empire

September 30, 2014

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been confirmed to be taking a lead role in new TV show, Empire. The show will be directed by acclaimed director Lee Daniels and follow a hip-hop empire, headed by Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), the head of a record label at the centre of the series.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Naomi will play "an alluring woman involved in a steamy affair" with the heir to the fortune, a much-younger man called Hakeem.Naomi and Lee have been close friends for years and Lee said of Naomi's casting: "Naomi is a beautiful actress.

Underrated in my mind. "She will be wonderful as Camilla. I am truly thrilled to have one of my close friends join us."

Naomi added: "It's an honour to follow in the footsteps of actresses like Halle Berry, Oprah, GaboureySidibe and Mo'Nique, and work with Lee Daniels. I'm looking forward to joining Lee and this amazing cast on set. "It won't be the 44-year-old's first time in front of the camera, either. Naomi has had starring roles in Miami Rhapsody with Sarah Jessica Parker, Spike Lee's Girl 6, and the parody film, Ali G in Da House. Naomi was one of the world's biggest supermodels in the 1990s and still commands the runway today.

She has recently been walking in the 2015 Spring/Summer runway shows in New York, and uniting with Jourdan Dunn and Cara Delevingne for Jourdan's Cell For Gratitude charity event.
