Based on the true story of Chris Kyle, a United States Navy SEAL, in his autobiography Chris claimed to have 160 confirmed kills and became known as America's deadliest sniper.

This first look at Bradley is set during one scene, as he use his instincts to decide whether a mother and her child are hostile or not, before other scenes of Sienna Millerwho plays Chris's wife Taya, cut into the powerful drama taking place in the middle east, to show us Taya giving birth to their child.

Bradley, who was Oscar nominated for his role in The Silver Linings Playbook, is almost unrecognisable in this latest role; he reportedly worked out around the clock to gain around 40lbs of muscle.

His co-star Eric Close spoke to E! about Bradley’s dedication to the role, revealing: "(Bradley) put on like 40 pounds. He's really been working hard. He looks great. He's really taken on this character. "…He really takes this story personally and wants to do an honourable job for Chris' memory and for his family."

Back in June when filming for American Sniper was still underway, Bradley was visited by his model girlfriend Suki Waterhouse. The British model, 22, was pictured cuddling and kissing her leading man as he filmed in Los Angeles with director Clint Eastwood.

The pair have been dating since early 2013, and were recently spotted on a romantic date night in London.

American Sniper is in cinemas in the UK on Janaury 13th 2015
