Nancy Birtwhistle has been crowned the winner of the hotly anticipated season five of Great British Bake Off.
After completing the three challenges, the judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry picked Nancy because "she's been interesting, and loves baking."
"I think Nancy absolutely nailed it in the final", added Paul. "I had to call you male judge to control myself!"
Nancy joked to Paul as she accepted the result, making light of an earlier joke in the season, before adding: "It's such a pleasure."
It was a tough call for judges Paul and Mary as Nancy, Richard, and Luis all gained mixed comments throughout the episode.
Both Luis and Richard found their nerves often got the better of them during the weekend of baking, while Nancy kept her cool as the tent got hot.
The three finalists were first given three hours to create a signature challenge which required them to master a classic pastry technique that normally takes a day.
Luis gained mixed remarks from judges Paul and Mary while Nancy was told "it's a bit doughy in the middle but the raspberry is delicious."
Richard was judged on his baking technique after it was clear that his pain au chocolat's were touching in the oven.
For their last ever technical challenge the three were asked to go back to basics, with two hours to make 12 Victoria sandwiches, 12 tarte au citrons, and 12 scones.
They all panicked, with Richard decided to redo his victoria sponge mixture with 30 minutes to go, and Luis burning his apple tarts.
Nancy won the challenge after receiving mostly positive remarks for the challenge, with Luis and Richard both ruining their tarte au citrons. The final show-stopper challenge of the year demanded the delivery of perfect sponge, caramel, choux pastry and petit four in their final five hours in the Bake Off tent. Richard made a "Mill-On-The-Hill", while Nancy decided to make a baked version of the Moulin Rouge.
"Think burlesque and red and black", she told the judges.
Luis made a "Village in Chocolate", and the three found that the arrival of loved ones and former contestants was providing extra pressure.
"That's lovely!" exclaimed Paul over Richard's creation, while Nancy's Moulin Rouge got rave remarks, with Mary adding: "You should be very proud of that."
"You're so good on design", Mary told Luis, why Paul added: "It's a work of art."
