Jennifer Lawrence makes surprise appearance at UK premiere of Serena

October 13, 2014

Jennifer Lawrence fans got a sweet surprise on Monday as the Hollywood starlet attended the premiere for Serena at the 2014 BFI London Film Festival.

Wearing a long-line black jacket dress with simple black heels, Jennifer looked stylish as she posed for photographs.

Serena brings Jennifer back together with Bradley Cooper, her co-star in the Oscar-winning films Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.

Directed by Danish Oscar winner Susanne Bier, the film is set during the 1929 depression and deals with power, love, and ambition.

Academy Award nominee Bradley plays George Pemberton, a timber magnate in the mountains of North Carolina, towards the end of the 1920s. He falls wildly in love with Jennifer’s Serena, a wild, ambitious, and bold woman who shocks the locals.

The newlyweds make big plans for the business but all isn’t quite as it seems in the Pemberton’s household, with illegitimate children, murders, and obsession threatening to bring their lives down around them.

As well as a star-studded lead, the film, an adaptation of Ron Rash’s novel, also casts Sam Reid, Rhys Ifans, Toby Jones and Sean Harris in supporting role.

It's the first time Jennifer has been out in public since her comments on the hacking scandal were released.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, The Hunger Games actress, who was one of the most high-profile victims of the scandal, told the magazine: "Just because I'm a public figure, just because I'm an actress, does not mean that I asked for this."

She revealed that she considered writing a statement at the time but "every single thing that I tried to write made me cry or get angry. "I started to write an apology, but I don't have anything to say I'm sorry for," she said.

"I was in a loving, healthy , great relationship for four years."

Serena is out in the UK on 24 October 2014
