Judy Murray on Strictly: 'I need to stay in one more week'

October 18, 2014

According to the latest odds from bookmakers William Hill, Judy Murray is the favourite to leave this week's Strictly Come Dancing show, but the tennis coach has revealed she needs to stay in one more round so her sons Andy and Jamie Murray can come and watch her.

"I have a big incentive to try and stay in this week because they've both said I have to stay in one more week and then they will, hopefully, have finished their commitments in Europe and be able to come and watch next weekend.

Judy Murray and Anton Du Beke are the bookies favourite to leave the show on Sunday

"So that's a big incentive for me to try and perform well and not look like I've got rigor mortis this week!"On Saturday evening Judy and her professional dance partner Anton Du Beke will be performing the Tango to Jealousy by Billy Fury.

Although they are hoping to stay on the show at least one more week, Judy has admitted she is struggling to master this week's dance because every time she tries to look passionately into Anton's eyes, she bursts out laughing. "I get the giggles.

That's the strange thing, because we have such a good laugh, he's upbeat all day long and he's great fun, he's got such a good sense of humour. And when he's coming towards me and very close, I just dissolve into giggles, which is absolutely not what you are supposed to do," she confessed.

Being the bookies' favourite to leave the hit BBC dance show doesn't bother Judy. "I went into this because I love the show and to have fun, a once in a lifetime experience to do something completely different - learn to dance. "I still keep having to pinch myself that I'm getting private dancing lessons every week from the one and only Anton Du Beke. For me, if I can keep improving a little bit every week, that's good enough for me."
