Matthew McConaughey had his nearest and dearest around him to mark an important milestone in his movie career – the 28th American Cinematheque Awards held in his honour. The Hollywood actor, who earlier this year received his first ever Oscar for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, was joined at the Tuesday night event by his wife Camila Alves and their two eldest children Levi and Vida. Matthew's mother Kay and her partner CJ Carlig, and his mother-in-law Fatima, completed the family affair.

While Matthew, 44, looked as dapper as usual in a black tuxedo, all eyes were on his Brazilian wife, 32, who wowed in a black column dress that featured lace panels. The couple, who have been together for eight years and married in 2012, looked as in love as ever as they embraced on the red carpet. Six-year-old son Levi matched his proud dad in a tuxedo, while Vida, four, was dressed to the nines in a champagne coloured frock.

As Matthew accepted his award on stage, audience members – who included the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Kate Hudson and Jennifer Garner – cooed with delight as the actor's young daughter supported her dad and hugged his leg. Matthew was recognised by American Cinematheque chairman Rick Nicita as "the epitome of what a Hollywood star should be – an adventurous, joyous and ever-growing talent combined with matinee-idol looks and an unshakeable sense of who he is and what he stands for." The stars put on their finest for the evening at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, with Reese flaunting her figure in a white mermaid-style gown that featured a floral print.
Kate Hudson, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway supported their co-star over the years Matthew McConaughey on the night
Jennifer, who starred with Matthew in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and posed for photos with the honouree on the night, looked pretty in a classic LBD. Fellow actress Kate, who has worked with Matthew on How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days and Fool's Gold, channelled old Hollywood glamour in a shimmering strapless floor-length number. Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain also joined the star-studded guest list and are set to appear with Matthew in sci-fi thriller Interstellar, which is due for release in the UK on the actor's November birthday. During the night several of Matthew's on-screen leading ladies also took to the stage to pay tribute to their friend and celebrated actor.
