Thom Evans and his professional dance partner Iveta Lukosiute have been voted off Sunday night's episode of Strictly Come Dancing. The former professional rugby player, 29, and the blonde beauty, 34, found themselves in the dance-off against pop star Simon Webbe and his partner Kristina Rihanoff. Thom and Iveta tried to sway the judges' decision with their performance of the Cha Cha to It's My Party by Jessie J, while Simon and Kristina danced the Viennese Waltz to Somebody to Love by Queen.

While judges Darcey Bussell and Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Thom and Iveta, Bruno Tonioli opted to keep Simon and Kristina in the competition. The casting vote was left to Len Goodman who gave his much-awaited verdict. "I look at the footwork and the feet," said Len. "And the couple with the cleanest footwork were Simon and Kristina so that is the couple I am saving."

Reflecting back on the result of what turned out to be his last show, Thom said: "This experience exceeded all my expectations; it is one of the best experiences of my life. From the judges to the other contestants to the backroom staff, everyone does such a brilliant job and helps you feel confident going into every show." The handsome athlete and former model also gave a special mention to his "patient" dance partner. "I also want to thank my partner Iveta," said Thom. "She has been immensely patient over these last couple of weeks and she couldn't have worked harder. I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart."

While Thom and Iveta have both denied reports that their work relationship has turned into a blossoming romance, the pair couldn't help but speak praises of each other. "We get along incredibly well and she is hilarious," Thom recently told HELLO! magazine. "We are very similar in many ways too: she is very switched on and know what she wants but she knows when to laugh at herself." "I wanted Thom so much that I didn't expect to get him," Iveta revealed before the line-up was announced. "When they announced it, I was unable to speak. I felt it was meant to be."
