X Factor contestant Jack Walton admits he trusted Louis Tomlinson 'more than Mel B'

November 3, 2014

Jack Walton was the sixth contestant to leave The X Factor on Saturay night in a shock double elimination, but the 18-year-old has revealed that he was not impressed with the advice given to him by his mentor Mel B."I didn't really like the song choices." Jack revealed, before adding that One Direction star Louis Tomlinson was a bigger help.

"Louis really believed in me though, he wanted me to do my own style. That’s what I wanted to do, and I should have stuck to that", Jack added.

"I’ve got massive support from him, he’s been a massive help throughout the competition telling me what I should sing. I wish I had listened to him a little bit more. He’s been so involved. I trusted his judgment more than Mel B. He’s been there before, done it all."

Jack had received the lowest number of votes by the end of Saturday's show, and he also received mixed criticism from the judges.

Louis Walsh called Jack "a small room performer" while Simon Cowell added that he was picking the wrong songs.

The yorkshire teen added: "Mel B was honest but I didn’t quite get what she was trying to get out of me. I was doing completely different stuff every week. I just felt like I should stick to one type of style which is my own style and what I do at gigs."

In an embarassing monent for former Spice Girl Mel, she also tweeted out support for her former act Jake Quickenden, who had left the show the previous week.

"Do not let @JakeQuickenden go Pls pls vote vote vote", Mel tweeted on Saturday before realising her mistake and adding: "Opppsss @jwaltonmusic".

Mel had stormed off the stage when Jake was booted off the show, but Jack noticed that Mel had a different reaction to his leaving.

"There were no tears for me from Mel, she cried for Jake last week. I didn’t really see her after I got booted off. She just said ‘I’ll let you have your moment’, then she went." he revealed.
