Happy birthday, Ellen Pompeo! As the Grey's Anatomy star celebrates turning 45, HELLO! Online takes a look at what the stars have in store for Ellen and for you...
This is what Ellen, who is a Scorpio, can be expecting today: There may be many reasons why two people are not on speaking terms. Perhaps they were once close confidantes who fell out. Or they may have never been formally introduced and are unable even to find each other's Facebook page. While we are being whimsical, we may care to question the phrase 'speaking terms'. What if two people do speak civilly and cordially, yet never say anything of any importance to each other? This week's question is not, 'who are you speaking to?' But 'who are you truly communicating with?'.
Born in Massachusetts, Ellen Pompeo moved to New York City to pursue acting in 1995, where she starred in various commercials and took on small roles in shows such as Law and Order and Friends.
In 2001 Ellen decided to move to Los Angeles, and this marked a turning point as she landed the role of Jake Gyllenhaal's girlfriend in Moonlight Mile. She then starred in Catch Me If You Can with Leonardo DiCaprio, Old School with Luke Wilson, and Marvel pic Daredevil with Ben Affleck. Ellen landed the role of her career in 2005, when she was cast as the lead doctor in Shonda Rhimes' new series, Grey's Anatomy.
Ellen played Meredith Grey, a surgical intern at a prestigious west coast hospital and starred alongside Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh, and Katherine Heigl.
The show was a breakout success, and Ellen received nominations for best actress at the Golden Globe awards and the People's Choice awards.
After eleven seasons the show is still running and remains a ratings hit, however, in recent months Ellen has admitted that when the show ends she will not continue acting, telling The Hollywood Reporter: "I definitely don't have a strong desire to act after Grey's."Ellen married her long-term partner Chris Ivery in 2007. The pair welcomed a daughter, Stella Luna, in 2009, and in October 2014 Ellen and Chris announced they had welcomed a second daughter, Sienna May, via surrogacy.
