See Benedict Cumberbatch deliver 11 celebrity impressions in 60 seconds: video

November 14, 2014

Benedict Cumberbatch isn't just one of the nation's leading actors – he's also a talented impressionist. The star showed another string to his bow this week as he sat down to promote his latest, aptly-titled, film, The Imitation Game

Newly-engaged Benedict, 38, was challenged to deliver as many celebrity impressions as possible in 60 seconds during an interview with MTV News, and he certainly delivered, racking up 11 impersonations.

Among the stars on the list – Michael Caine, Sean Connery, Alan Rickman, Tom Hiddleston, Jack Nicholson, Matthew McConaughey and even Taylor Swift. Just one impression caused him any trouble, Christopher Walken, and after his 60 seconds were up, the actor went back to try again.

Benedict is currently promoting his new film, which sees him star as cryptologist and mathematician Alan Turing, whose brilliant mind helped crack the German Enigma Code during World War II.

Alan was convicted for homosexuality in 1952, and tragically killed himself a year later – in 2013, the Queen granted him a royal pardon and overturned the conviction.

Leading man Benedict has received rave reviews for his sensitive portrayal of the so-called father of modern computing. The film, which also stars Keira Knightley, opens in cinemas this week after more than two months on the festival circus, and is hotly tipped to be a strong contender at next year’s Oscars.
