Shailene Woodley was born on 15 November 1991 in Simi Valley, California.The American actress first made waves in the industry with small television roles in programmes Without a Trace and The District but earned her first break-out role with her role as the protagonist, Amy Jeurgens in the ABC Family series The Secret Life of the American Teenager as a 15-year-old who discovers she is pregnant.

In 2011, the star made her feature film debut in The Descendants, where she played Alex, the troubled elder daughter of Matt King, portrayed by George Clooney. Her performance was met with praise by critics and she went on to receive a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture for her role in the filmShailene has recently starred in the big-screen adaptation of John Green‘s novel The Fault In Our Stars and Veronica Roth's Divergent. She will reprise her role as Tris Prior for reminder of the film's franchise.
