November 19, 2014

EastEnders actor Ben Hardy, better known to fans of the BBC soap as Peter Beale, has confirmed he is leaving the long-running soap, and it could be because Hollywood is calling. The 23-year old actor is reportedly being eyed to star in the next instalment of the X-Men franchise, possibly alongside Chloe Grace Moretz.

The young actor, who only joined the soap in 2013, is one of three relatively unknown actors who producers are looking at to take on the role of Scott Summers, or Cyclops, first made popular in the 2000 film by James Marsden.

American website The Wrap confirms that Chloe and Elle Fanning have both met the director in recent weeks, but Oscar-nominated Hailee Steinfeld is also in the running.Chloe, who is reportedly dating Brooklyn Beckham, already has one hit franchise under her belt - Kick-Ass- and is currently filming The 5th Wave, a book adaptation what studios hope will become a franchise.

Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Apocalypse will take fans of the comic series in to a new direction and will focus on a young Magneto's romance with Mystique, making Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence the stars of the new film
