Jake Quickenden and Edwina Currie are set to join I'm A Celebrity... on Thursday night. Earlier this week rumours surfaced that the pair would be taking part in the show set in the Australian jungle. Former X Factor contestant Jake, who was spotted staying at a hotel Down Under a few days ago, said that heading to the jungle was a dream come true, despite his phobia of rats. "Things like this don't happen to me," said Jake. "I am just a normal bloke. It's a real adventure and it is going to be so much fun. I am going to take this opportunity with both hands. I want to relish everything that is thrown at me. I actually haven't stopped grinning since I got offered this."

The 26-year-old, who is currently single, added that he just wanted to have fun with other contestants and was happy to try all sorts of challenges. "I am not keen on rats but I don't mind heights or water," said Jake. "I like physical challenges and I will give them a go. The eating trials are funny but I will do them." While the hopeful singer said that he hasn't turned his back on music and hopes to produce an album one day, Jake said that he probably wouldn't be bursting into song around the campfire. "I'd probably annoy people if I sang all the time," said Jake. "I just want to have a laugh with everyone."

Joining Jake will be sharp-talking and former Conservative MP Edwina. "If I hear someone talking complete rubbish, then I will probably say so," the 68-year-old ex-Junior Health Minister said. "I am a Scouser and there is no such thing as a meek Scouser. I will quite possibly tell them if they are annoying me too. Or you can pull a face or a gesture. It really does depend what they are doing. "I will only get cross with those who don't try. If you sign up to do something like this show, then you have to do your best. If anyone is pulling a fast one or letting the side down, then they might get a tongue-lashing. On the other hand, if they are really upset, I hope I am sympathetic."
Edwina Currie said she was joining the show for a new adventure
Edwina, who has previously starred in Hell's Kitchen and Strictly Come Dancing, said she signed up to the show to fly the flag for older people. "If an advanced stage of life is not an adventure, then you might as well give up on everything! This will certainly be something I have never experienced before," she said. The frank contestant, who admitted that she was looking forward to losing weight in the jungle, added: "What does worry me are the bugs like mosquitoes. They always find me and they eat me."
