Sherlock star Andrew Scott rumoured to be new Bond villain

December 3, 2014

The official cast and title for the upcoming James Bond film, currently titled Bond 24, is set to be revealed on Thursday, but it looks like an interesting piece of casting has already been leaked - Sherlock star Andrew Scott will reportedly star as the movie's villain. Andrew will star alongside Daniel Craig, who is returning in the titular role as Mr. Bond, and Ben Whishaw.

It won't be the first time Andrew will play an evil mastermind, taking on the role of Moriarty, often considered sleuth Sherlock Holmes' arch nemesis, played by Benedict Cumberbatch in the BBC show.

The Daily Mirror broke the news, with their insider revealing: "Andrew was hand-picked for a role in the new Bond movie after film bosses loved his star turn in Sherlock.

"Casting directors thought he was perfect to play a baddie and they wanted to use his existing Sherlock profile - and amp it up to the next level."

Andrew will star alongside Daniel and Naomie Harris

The insider added: "Andrew is hoping the move will see him leap from TV to the big screen, where he can eventually divide his time between London and LA. He knows this is his big break."

Andrew was also the star of hit British indie film in 2014, Pride, the true story of gay activists based in London who decide to support a small Welsh mining town during the 1984 Miner's Strikes.
