Samuel James has joined the cast of Birds of a Feather. The British star is replacing Matt Willis in the role of Garth Stubbs for the second series. Musician and actor Matt decided to leave the sitcom to focus on his commitments with band McBusted. "I was absolutely over the moon to land the role of Garth," Samuel told Digital Spy. "When I found out, I went screaming around my living room.
"After the initial shock and excitement of landing the role, the nerves then took over and I realised I was joining this iconic television programme that's been on air for over 25 years!" He added, "Since I joined it's been a 'dream come true' job: they've all taken me under their wing and it's like one big family." ITV recently confirmed that Birds of a Feather will return to TV screens on Boxing Day for the start of an eight-part series.
The sitcom had been off air for 15 years after ending on BBC – but last year it screened on ITV, with the adventures of Sharon (Pauline Quirke), Tracye (Linda Robson) and Dorien (Lesley Joseph) proving to be as popular as ever.
