December 8, 2014

Carl Fogarty has been crowned king of the jungle in the latest series of I'm A Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here!. The former Superbikes champion, nicknamed "Foggy", was named the winner of the 2014 reality TV show, with X Factor contestant Jake Quickenden coming in second place in the programme, which saw ten celebrities head into the bush Down Under. Lancashire-born sportsman Carl, 49, became emotional, falling to his knees with delight and surprise at the news. He described the win as "the best thing that's ever happened to me".

Speaking about his time in the jungle, he told Ant and Dec that having friendly campmates made all the difference. "It sounds unbelievable. It feels like a dream. Thanks to everyone for voting. This is the best thing of my life, I can’t put into words how happy I am that the public have put me here."

He told the show's duo presenters that he was shocked to make it to the final, saying: "I never thought this in my wildest dreams. The other two guys I'm in with now are very current. Mel's on daytime TV and obviously with Jake and The X Factor. I'm like old and 15 years ago. What am I doing here? I'm just loving it. I'm really loving it." Jake, who reached the final despite his quick rise to fame on this year's series of ITV talent show X Factor, was delighted at the outcome. "I couldn't have won to a better man - he is Crocodile Dundee. He's a legend," he said.

"I can't get my head around what's happened. I came off X Factor and then ended up on here - people have voted for me more on here than on X Factor."It all happened in four days so I didn't have time to think about it. It really was the best time of my life. I'm a nobody - I'm amazed I'm in the show because I'm not a celebrity".TV presenter Melanie Sykes came in at third place.
