Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's funniest Golden Globes quotes

January 12, 2015

Tina Fey promised she wouldn't hold back on controversial jokes at the Golden Globes awards, and she didn't disappoint as she co-hosted the awards with Amy Poehler for the third consecutive year on Sunday.  The hosts drew laughs from the audience as they opened the show with a quip about Sony's controversial film The Interview. "Tonight we celebrate all the great television shows that we know and love as well as all the movies that North Korea was ok with," Tina said. "North Korea referred to The Interview as absolutely intolerable and a wanton act of terror, and that wasn't the worst review the movie got."

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler made jokes about the nominees at the Golden Globes awards

They continued to joke about nominees including George Clooney and Jennifer Aniston in their opening monologue, which they have said will be the last time they host the Golden Globes.

Tina Fey on George Clooney:

"George Clooney married Amal Alamuddin this year. Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case; was an adviser to Kofi Annan regarding Syria; and was selected for a three-person UN commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza Strip. So tonight… her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award."

Amy Poehler on Jennifer Aniston's role in Cake: "Jennifer Aniston is here tonight, nominated for the film Cake. We should explain for the Hollywood people in the room: Cake is like a fluffy dessert that people eat on their birthdays… and birthdays are a thing people celebrate when they admit they've aged."Tina Fey on Steve Carell: "Steve Carell took two hours to put on his hair and make-up for Foxcatcher. Just in comparison, it took me three hours to prepare for my role tonight as human woman." Tina Fey on Patricia Arquette's win for Boyhood: Referring to Patricia's role in Boyhood, which was filmed over 12 years, the hosts said: "She's proved that there are still great roles for women over 40 as long as you get hired when you're under 40."
