Sarah-Jane Crawford to miss NTAs after emergency surgery

January 21, 2015

Sarah-Jane Crawford will not be making the National Television Awards on Wednesday night, after having undergone an emergency operation on her womb. The Xtra Factor presenter is said to be feeling "really low" after the surgery, according to a report in The Sun. "It was a real shock," said a source. "She didn't quite know how serious it was and has been putting it off for weeks due to her workload. "But after doctors checked it out she needed emergency surgery. If she didn't treat it, the lump could have become very dangerous."

The discovery comes after Sarah-Jane, 33, had a lump removed from her breast less than a year ago. They were found to be benign but doctors warned that they could have turned into something more serious if she hadn't had an operation. Opening up about the ordeal, Sarah-Jane said: "I was petrified. They told me I should have it removed. I am now in a high-risk category [for breast cancer] so I have to get checked out once a year." Last week the DJ took to Instagram to update her fans on her movements. As she posted a photo of a knitted toy bear, she wrote: "I'm off into hospital and taking this guy with me – nothing serious – so I'm off radio for 2 weeks but feel free to send me Netflix/book suggestions to get me through the boredom lol."

Sarah-Jane looks to have received much love and support from her friends, as she also shared a couple of photos of bouquets of flowers, as well as a card featuring an Andy Warhol print of tomato soup on it. "Soup is always the answer ❤," she captioned it. The raven-haired beauty, who replaced Caroline Flack and Matt Richardson on The X Factor spin-off show last year, first appeared on screens on reality TV show Shipwrecked. She is also best known for hosting her weekday radio show on BBC Radio 1Xtra, and for her television work with ITV2, BBC and Channel 4.
