It looks like Ed Sheeran is set to try his hand at acting after he filmed a cameo in Home and Away. The singer, who is currently on tour in Australia, took time out from his busy schedule to visit the Palm Beach and Eveleigh sets of the long-running soap on Tuesday.

Ed was spotted filming scenes on set in Sydney along with Emily Symons, who plays the popular character of Marilyn Chambers, and a spokesperson for the show confirmed that Ed's cameo will air in an episode later in the year.

"He will appear as himself in the series, but storyline details about what brings Ed to Summer Bay are being kept under wraps for now," the representative said.

Following his day of filming, Ed travelled back to Sydney Harbour via sea plane. The singer is due to perform at the city's Qantas Credit Union Arena on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night before continuing his tour in Melbourne on Saturday.

During the visit Ed appeared in good spirits despite admitting to fans on Twitter that he was feeling under the weather.

"Been told by the vocal doc not to talk at all between shows and they're giving me a white board to communicate with, could prove interesting," he wrote.

Ed Sheeran will also reportedly star in an upcoming Bollywood movie

The Home and Away cameo is not the only acting role that Ed has in the pipeline. The 24-year-old has reportedly agreed to a role in an upcoming Bollywood film, according to The Sun.

Farah Khan, who directed 2014 action-heist comedy Happy New Year, revealed that he met Ed at the home of actor Abhishek Bachchan following his gig in Mumbai at the start of the month.

"It was very gracious of Abhishek to let me bring Ed to his home," he said. "Not only did Ed hit it off with Abhishek, but before I left they both also decided that Ed would act in Happy New Year 2."
