Get ready for two-and-a-half minutes of an absolutely terrifying post-apocalyptic world with the latest trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road. "In this wasteland, I am the one who runs from both the living and the dead. A man reduced to a single entity. Survive." begins the voiceover for the trailer, before we see Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron teaming up to escape a deranged warlord who is out for trouble.

Charlize stars as Imperator Furiosa, who has left the warlord, Immortan Joe's lair, with a handful of his young sex slaves. Tom - Mad Max - gets dragged into the escape after he makes his own escape from Joe's gang of thugs.

The stunning and often violent trailer doesn't appear to be using much computer-generated effects, and this only lends itself to the feeling of shock and awe that the trailer brings.

Also featuring Nicholas Hoult, Riley Keough, and Rosie Huntingdon-Whitely, the film is directed by George Miller, the mastermind behind the original 1979 film.

Shot in 2012, Charlize caused a buzz that year when she stepped out in Beverley Hills sporting the drastic new hair style for the film – a shaved head.

Leslie Fremar, the celebrity snipper who looks after Charlize’s locks, voiced her opinion on the actress’ new look at the time, telling InStyle magazine: "She sent me a picture, and I said, 'Where the heck is all your hair?!'

"But Charlize takes her trade very seriously. She’s not afraid to put herself out there and transform into the character she’s playing. And let’s be honest, she’s so beautiful."

Indeed, in 2003 Charlize shaved her eyebrows, gained 30lbs of weight, and underwent sessions with a hair stylist to thin and then fry her hair, completely transforming herself to star as Aileen Wuornos, a serial killer who was executed in 2002.

Mad Max: Fury Road will screen out of competition at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival before being released in the UK on May 15.
