James Corden has only been hosting the late night talk show The Late Late Show for six weeks but the British comedian has already racked up his first big award nomination. The show is in the running to be awarded Best Talk Show at the 2015 Critics Choice Television Awards, and the award's Twitter account heaped praise on the show via the social media site.
"@latelateshow new kids on the block, but you're taking names & changing the game! Congrats on the #CriticsChoice nom!" the account tweeted, before James Corden retweeted it and added: "We are truly shocked, thrilled and honored! Thank you so much, what a list to be on!!"
James is now up against fellow Brits Graham Norton - whose chatshow airs on BBC America - and John Oliver, who hosts Last Week Tonight, as well as Jon Stewart and Jimmy Fallon.
James took over from Craig Ferguson on the popular late night show in March.
He had previously admitted his fears of taking on such a challenge in the US where he was an unknown, but it appeared that he had little to worry about as his first show was well received by critics and audiences alike.
Mila Kunis and Tom Hanks were two of James's first guests
The British comedian was joined by A-List guests Mila Kunis and Tom Hanks for the debut, in which he thanked viewers for the honour of being selected for the coveted position.
Celebrities including Eddie Redmayne, Meryl Streep and Simon Cowell all lent their support to James by starring in pre-recorded sketches, while Jay Leno also made an appearance in a skit training him for his new role as a late night talk show host.

James has also enlisted his pals to help him out, and David Beckham appeared on the second episode, where he stripped down to his underwear alongside James to star in a hilarious new skit.
The two friends filmed a Calvin Klein-style advert together for James' new US chat show, which sees them both posing in their new 'D&J' boxer shorts.
Upcoming guests include One Direction, in what is thought will be their first TV appearance since Zayn Malki quit the band in March, and Anna Kendrick.
