Season 12 of The X Factor won't kick off until autumn, but the show's new presenters, Olly Murs and Caroline Flack, are already showing off their hosting skills. Proving their on-screen chemistry, the two bounce off each other as they launch the new season with a short 30-second clip asking for people to audition.
Olly and Caroline were named as the new X Factor hosts in mid-April, just weeks after Dermot O'Leary announced he was stepping down from the role after "eight wonderful years".
The pair had previously enjoyed success on The Xtra Factor, and Simon Cowell will be hoping that their rapport will translate to the main show as well.
In a new interview with The Mirror, Olly revealed how he was offered the job: "I always get a text at some point from Simon Cowell saying, 'Olly, we need to talk about X Factor, I think you should do the show with me this year.' Every year!
"He always said I was a big ambassador of the show and he wanted me to be part of it at some stage. But this year it was more formal, he asked me to dinner."
Caroline however said: "I definitely didn’t get fed! I had one glass of wine, that was it!" but admitted that it was the chance to continue working with Olly which won her over: "They asked if I would do the show with Olly and that, for me, was the biggest appeal.
"I don’t know if I’d have been brave enough to do it on my own, to be honest.
"I’d have been really nervous about that. But because it was Olly, something felt right about that."
The two also admitted that the show would not be the same without Louis Walsh, but revealed their dream judges, with Caroline admitting Tina Turner or Steven Tyler would be great - "It would be good to have a legend".
Olly meanwhile loves the idea of Robbie Williams: "We just did the O2 together and I was in his ear the whole time trying to persuade him. I’m failing, though."
