June 19, 2015

Happy birthday, Zoe Saldana! As the Avatar actress celebrates turning 37, HELLO! Online take a look at what the stars have in store for Zoe and you...

Though Mercury's retrograde phase has officially ended, you may only now be starting to reap the benefit of a recent process of reflection. Often, when life gives us cause to question something that we have taken for granted, we either grow angry or slip into a state of denial. It takes some digestion and contemplation before we can accept what we seem to be learning with graceful wisdom. This weekend, a penny that began to drop noisily some while ago, finally hits the right spot and triggers the perfect reaction.

American actress Zoe Saldana was born in New Jersey to a Puerto Rican mother and a father from the Dominican Republic. The brunette beauty has often spoken of her pride in her Latin heritage, and she moved back to the Dominican Republic at the age of nine after her father passed away.

She had her first break at the age of 22 when she starred in the dance drama Center Stage in 2000, and it came after years of dance training and working with theatre groups across New York City.

In 2003 she starred alongside Johnny Depp and Kiera Knightley in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl as a female pirate. She later worked with Ashton Kutcher, Tom Hanks, and Orlando Bloom in various films.

It was in 2009 when super stardom came for Zoe however, as she took on her most high profile roles yet - first as Uhura in the Hollywood reboot of Star Trek, and later as Neytiri in James Cameron's 3D epic Avatar.

As Gamora in the comic adaptation of Guardians of the Galaxy, released to incredible box office figure in 2014, Zoe's profile was raised even higher, and she signed on to the sequel, set to be released in 2017.

Zoe was in an on-again-off-again relationship with Bradley Cooper for two years, before meeting Italian artist Mario Perego. The pair married in the UK in 2013, and in July 2014, she confirmed they were expecting their first child.

A surprise was in store for the pair though, who welcomed twins in December. "The moment they popped out, they had personalities," Zoe told E! News of her sons Cy and Bowie in June. "They are two different people. Identical boys but two people."
